New Release! The Legends of Phantasia: Bounds of the Sky

2026.09.26

Hello everyone!

There's a new release that came out a few days ago, and this one is quite lengthy!

You can find it here.

I also wanted to give a huge thanks to Kumo Kurosaki (黒崎くも) for drawing the cover art, which looks very pretty in my opinion. She's also an independent VTuber based in Taiwan and streams quite frequently on YouTube, so if you're interested in any of that, be sure to check out her channel!

If you haven't noticed already, the track titles have a lot of references in them, some of which you might recognise instantly if you're into VGM or are a Falcom fan like myself.

To give some examples that are more obvious, "Sword of Swords ~ Miniature" is of course a reference to the track "Sword of Swords" featured in Trails into Reverie/Hajimari no Kiseki, which also happens to be one of my personal favorites from that game. "The Destination of BATTLE" is a reference to "The Destination of FATE" from the same game. "Wonderl@nd" is a nod to the music titles that are frequently used in "THE IDOLM@STER" series, where they usually substitute "a"s with "@"s (don't ask me why, though, I guess it just looks fancy!) And probably the most blatant of all is "TO MAKE THE BEGINNING OF PEACE", which pays homage to "TO MAKE THE END OF BATTLE", a legendary track by Yuzo Koshiro featured in the Ys series that I'm sure most people who are into video game music would have at least heard once or twice.

There are some other more subtle ones here and there, but I'll leave those to your imagination and let you figure them out on your own.

Anyway, go check out the album if you want! If you don't, at least you might want to take a look at Kumo Kurosaki's channel if you're into VTubers and stuff like that. If none of these happen to pique your interest, then I might ask, why did you bother reading all the way here?

Next time!
