Brief Introduction to Strudel

A while back I tried playing around with Strudel, a live coding environment that runs directly in the browser used for creating music. I must say it is very capable and far exceeded my initial expectations, though I would not recommend using it for just arranging or producing music "normally".

I did make a few short tracks with the "normal" way, but I find that there's really no point in doing so compared to producing music in a regular DAW. However, I found that it is excellent for creating algorithmic music patterns that you wouldn't come across otherwise. The other thing I noticed is that it's very good at teaching people how to program and write music at the same time, which sounds somewhat difficult, but actually isn't as hard as people would imagine.

I put a few tracks on my GitHub page if you'd like to see those yourself, just copy the contents of the .txt files into Strudel, hit play, and enjoy the results! Highly recommended for musicians who want to learn the basics of programming, or perhaps also programmers interested in music composition!
